With all the new stuff that is going on around here, we wanted to take a moment to reflect upon the roots of this small company. For those of you who have not had the extreme pleasure of hearing how emu began, today is your lucky day. For those of you that have, stick around… this story seems to get better every time we tell it.

After a half week of watching dedicated fans using their facebook statuses to let friends know about Emu Clothing’s fan page, we have a winner. The process of selecting a winner was time consuming and tedious but after 3 cups of coffee, ten sheets of printer paper, and a few hundred coin flips, we were able to narrow the results to just one person. We are proud to announce that the winner of our first facebook competition is none other than TJ Briel. TJ will recieve a t-shirt of his choice as well as 1000 pack of Emu stickers to plaster all over his car (this was in the fine print…what, you seriously thought the t-shirt was free?)
If the winner wasn’t you… which is likely the case unless your name happens to be TJ Briel, remember that more competitions are coming soon! Be on the lookout for a similar competition that will incorporate twitter updates as well as facebook status changes. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to help us grow our fan base and spread awareness about Emu. We couldn’t do it without you!

Do I have your attention? Something about a big sign that says “free” always seems to get that reaction. Well while you’re down here, why don’t I tell you how you can go about getting one of our awesome shirts for nothing more than thirty seconds of your time…

As many of you have probably noticed, we only have three different shirt designs that we sell on our site. There are a few reasons why this is the case. First off, we are middle class working guys who have little to no capital to start a company, and… well actually that’s pretty much it. But things aren’t as bad as they seem. No, in fact, this whole three design thing is actually pretty cool. How is that you say? I’m glad you asked.
Unity through numbers
While emu is all about being original and having a design no one else has, we are also firm believers in community. In the harsh and unloving society we live in today people need all the friends they can get, and what better way to identify a potential friend than by spotting an emu design that you own yourself.
See, at this point in the game, emu is not a “clothing line.” Emu is currently more of a commodity, an up and coming trend if you will. While it would be amazing to start out a company with a huge customer base and a large inventory, grassroots movements are always more fun to be a part of. Who wants to buy shirts from a company that has forty-five bazillion shirts on the backs of people all around the world? Not I. Give me the small, insignificant company that I can feel a part of and support. That’s what it’s all about.
Wrapping it up
So in conclusion, when you see someone else with the design you own, instead of getting upset that someone else has the same design as you, be glad you are both part of the same movement, the same cause. Realize that when you buy our designs you aren’t entering the world of a company that is boring and worn, rather you are helping breath life into a baby company that may one day may mature into a… boring and worn company… dang it.
p.s. if you want to make me feel better, go buy a shirt
